Why does dropped toast always seem to land butter-side down? What if a plane tried taking off on a conveyor belt moving in the opposite direction? Have you heard that you can make a canoe out of duct tape? Our inner schoolyard scientist considers things like this all day long. To separate appearance from reality, we must use the scientific method of observation, measurement and testing.
Discovery Channel's Emmy®-nominated show MythBusters specializes in subjecting wild ideas to some wildly entertaining experiments. No strangers to illusions themselves, MythBusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman bring their expertise in special effects—along with co-hosts, Tory Belleci, Grant Imahara and Kari Byron—to relentlessly busting or confirming myths through the scientific method. If that should also involve things like air cannons or crash dummies in speeding cars… so much the better (it usually does.)
